Wall Sculpture & Wood Carving

Abstract Wood Wall Piece

Waterbased stain, acrylic paint, clear protective coat. This piece has 1 1/4" mounts on back to create distance from the art and the wall.
29" x 47"

Laminated Red Cedar

The fluidity of seals in motion express the symmetry and beauty of this piece.

36 x 40" This slightly curved red cedar relief carving is the first large scale wood piece for Aakatchaq, and is still a work in progress.

Is this all your own work, or some other artists too? Its fantastic, I really love it. The portraits - but also some of the abstract designs/pieces. I do some work in textiles, and some of these would be wonderful designs for weaving.

I know very little about Alaska and innuit people/culture. I saw an American series called Northern Exposure, set in Alaska, and the country looked fabulously beautiful.

Lettuce, This is all my own work, I think part of the reason for the variety is that I am always trying new things to keep me interested. I'd get bored otherwise, say if I just painted. Finding new, engaging materials and ideas keeps me motivated. Thank you for your wonderful comments!
